I always had 2.0 TDI Passats and been satisfied. When I needed space for my dogs I decided to go for the 2.0 TDI Life. I am very happy the vehicle except for performance and 5th and 6th gears are very high and the engine loses revs quickly on even the slightest of As soon as I get to Telegraph Hill in the indicator tells me to change As you change from 6 to 5 more are lost and to maintain the same its down to 4th. With an is supposed to have so much this is not acceptable. I believe it has to do with EU exhaust emission Because the engine is recycling so exhaust gas the engine runs too (ask any mechanic about This also contributes to the MPG. Another irritation is the fly by technology whereby your is connected elecronically to the ECU and not directly to the injection system, resulting in the deciding how much fuel to put in not Sadly I learnt all this I bought my 2011 version. I the 2010 and earlier are better, the comment on one review about MPG levels and the taxi driver a newer version with MPG. When it is out of warranty I see if a VW Specialist can do something with the EGR to performance and MPG. I am so anti EU — any gain by manufacturers in improvements are lost by more My son’s 130 PS Passat out performs my 140 PS in all respects relating to power and I am so disappointed.

Bought brand new. It arrived on a and I was given the keys. A scratch was out to me and marked on the delivery note, but no action has been taken. is good for the purpose I use it for, a Road noise is excessive. a long time to warm up. Air con slow. Rattles. DAB radio channel on its own. Very interior lights NO SPARE wouldn’t have bought it had I I could have six passengers in a lane at 4am, if I get a sidewall out I’m especially if no phone signal. All VW can say is assistance, duh. What my next pick up. If you use the gel pack you the tyre. Not good enough for a and will soon be banned by licensing authorities. Plenty of and smooth gearbox, 6 speed Fuel consumption is 38mpg and be better. Comfortable. Overall a vehicle but £23,500 should provided a few more refinements, so expensive for a VW.

I the drive and the looks, but ours is to carry a wheelchair with from new. It has only 825 miles but my son was stuck in it in his wheelchair the tailgate refused to open. I out VolksWagen assist, but the RAC man who came not get it to open. I ended up having my son from the caddy in his wheelchair out of the door after the seats removed. We had to come home in a taxi and my husband drove the home. If it was not for the chaps at the hospital able to help get him out I don’t what we would have The garage say it was the micro switch on the had opened too far and when the tailgate down the micro switch was open. I am scared to use it now incase it again and would not buy another it.

I love my Maxi-Life, which I last April and have so far 10000 miles in mixed and long distance work. a perfect car for outdoor pursuits and even tows my 1000kg happily. With its long it’s very stable. the Rear seats left at we have used it as a comfortable in inclement weather. Great I bought roof bars, but only used them because almost everything inside! Glitches? Yes, a I agree with Derek, is probably realistic for front The sliding door ’port-hole’ both leaked from day one and little hope of a cure so am to wet door pockets. The ’electronic’ can be baffling, just the locking/unlocking and window settings will take me years to master. said, it’s a great vehicle!

Derek Platten,

I am a taxi driver in Newcastle Tyne. I bought my Caddy new 1st Feb 2011. As of 13th December I done 44500 miles. It is a good drive and my customers remark how comfortable it is. However, the of a spare wheel, spare carrier and jack is a disgrace. The and puncture fluid do not work (I had five punctures so far and have had to a spare wheel from a every time). I now carry a in the boot which takes up room. The clutch has just and in 25 years taxi-ing, hitherto in vehicles, I have never had than 70,000 miles out of a — usually 100,000+. I this is related to the Dual Flywheel, which the Caddy has and of I was forewarned before buying it. I am not technically clued-up to know why should be, but let the buyer beware. access to the rearmost seats is and I have already had a replacement gas-strut and full rear bottom plate

under warranty. Note that the Caddy is VERY of front wheel tyres miles per tyre). With to fuel consumption, I drive constantly in traffic and get 30 -32 mpg (It was 35mpg for the 20,000 miles). The warranty at 60,000 miles. I’ll you posted.
