With a sporty the Volkswagen Cross Polo has the of a mini SUV

The Volkswagen Cross is aptly named for it does look like quite an car.

With a slightly body, black side and roof rails, the Cross resembles a little SUV.

Sit the hatchback and even without the VW the up-close windscreen and functional ensure there’s no mistaking in a small Volkswagen.

The interior of the Cross Polo is functional

A relatively low-tech model, the Polo I was driving was a really no type of car and without all the bells and it traded on its drivability. Despite having a modest 1.2l which puts out 75hp, it disappoint.

While the interior of the Polo is quite basic, the look of the exterior is carried inside, with cool black and silver upholstery and sports seats.

There’s of storage too, with in the centre console, bottle in the front doors, a pull cup holder in the back and more in the front centre armrest.

The double layer boot is than it looks and also a spare tyre.

While by no a large car, the Cross offered plenty of leg room back and front, with of my height (5’5”) having no sitting behind myself in the seat.

Tech-wise, there was control, a tyre pressure electric windows front and climatic manual air conditioning, hold control and radio/CD/aux.

The rear of the Cross Polo has an SUV look to it

There was also an interface, but no USB or Bluetooth, which limited my driving music.

I found the diesel engine to be a bit noisy in the 1.2l 5-speed model I was driving – but not so loud as to be

At the lights, the Cross Polo a bit of poke and held its own. And it wasn’t the fastest at getting 0-100kph, I enjoyed putting it its paces and running it through the

A practical and functional car, the Polo impressed me. Sturdy it offered a lovely smooth in both urban and motorway

Overall I found it a really fun and drive and I was sorry to have to say to it.

Two versions of the Cross Polo are in Ireland, a 1.2l 70hp and a 1.2l 75hp diesel Prices for the petrol model from €18,995, with for the diesel starting from Cruise control, tyre monitor, parking sensors, and interface were extras on the I was driving.
