1978 VW Derby build

i would stick this up as i am spending more time here :-)

So a bit of a cut and paste to start but it will get there :-)

Model: VW GLS

Engine: [s]1272 PY with charger[/s] 1272 3F with 4 manifold, 268 newman cam, 8k chip and induction kit

Suspension: 35mm springs with adjustable struts, [s]GED bar and G-ladersite from bushes[/s]

[s]239 vented discs and calipers[/s] 239 standard discs, new braided hoses

Wheels and [s]13 x 5 Fondmental cross with 175/50 yoko’s

Exterior Styling: Bog standard

Styling: Bog standard

ICE and Security: Bog

THought i would put up a build thread for my 78 Derby

I this off Edition 38 a while with the intenion of returning it to the farily quickly. It had been the block a while by then, featured in PPC’s and caught my eye on the Also some of you may remember i first picked it up, as i suggested i was off to to ‘sort it out’ and got a few angry

Had to extend the to fit it in, but i did it.

Just waiting for the time to on her.

She originally came a G40 engine which had been to a rotrex charger due to bay restrictions, had blown up :-( so i picked it up running a standard G40 engine, with a 4 manifold, but minus the the charger, but a charge cooler system and a injection system in place.

Car had 5 speend box, koni and eibatch springs and G40 brakes. than that, fairly Original car had covered around 35K and was solid :-)

Time passed and after options with Phil J, a mk2 G40 intercooler was purchased:

it fitted but no room for the turbo, without up the car (and giving the game which i didn’t want to do.

I knew a G40 charger wouldn’t fit from previous owner. and he got the rotrex working either. so to do. (so is intercooler for sale)

I heard a 16v be a tight fit too.

So now i have to take my GT engine out of my mk2 coupe and fit It has a few mods, manifold, chip, air filter so should be good for and enough for this daily now). Which leaves me to a nice engine for the mk2 around the G40 in this car (which is another
