8V: Personalised Registration Numbers Plates)

This is a thread for members who already have or are of purchasing a Personalised Registration You can also discuss anything to do PRNs but if you one of those people who do not PRNs then please DO NOT in this particular thread.

As background, I purchased my PRN which as of you will realise from my ID is H5 DJR back in 1991 when the first allowed us to purchase numbers from the new numbers were going to be issued for year. This has now expanded to all numbers.

Full detail of all the involved can be found here: but here is a summary.

If the vehicle is already registered and has an registration number, you can apply to to have the new number assigned to the

Transferring a Personalised Number to new car using a Retention Certificate

you want to transfer your PRN to new car follow the process outlined on the website at: www.gov.uk/personalised-vehicle-registration-numbers/transferring-a-registration-number

Volkswagen L80

You will need to complete a form Application to transfer or an existing registration number and it together with the £80 transfer fee and £25 fee to the DVLA.

If the existing car has ever issued with a registration the DVLA will use the same but if it has never had a ‘normal’ number it will be given a new number to it’s age. You will a new V5C Registration Document showing the new that has been allocated with a form allowing you to get a new set of made. You will also get a Certificate which is valid for 12 These often come in postings. You give this Certificate to the dealer and they can register the new car with you personal

number. Personally I find is a much more straight and quicker process than the new car registered with a normal and then transferring your PRN All of what needs doing can be before you get the new car.

All the forms you need to complete can be from the DVLA website. you complete them and send to the DVLA keep copies in case there is any problem.

you next change your car you go through the same procedure So far I have done it 9 times any problems.

If anyone requires any information, please post in thread or send me a PM.
