Performance – The VW Jetta is powered by a Inline 4 cylinder turbocharged providing 150 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. On its own the feels underpowered in some such as overtaking on a highway but it is helped along by an electric that provides an additional 27 hp for an system power of 170 hp (somehow it produce 177 hp according to VW but I’ll along). It can run on the electric motor for almost 2 km with a top speed of 70 before the gas motor starts up. from both motors is to a 7 speed DSG (dual clutch) that is, like all other DSG brilliant when on the move but setting off from a dead it hesitates for a split second, ie. it behave like a traditional and to me it just feels awkward.

“weird feeling” that I get the car is when braking. In addition to standard hydraulic brakes, the also has regenerative braking is the electric motor providing while it’s recharging the This happens when you let go of the pedal and lightly apply the pedal and that’s fine but braking doesn’t provide a lot of force so you are expecting more what you’re actually If you press the brake pedal then the standard hydraulic are applied and your face ripped off because the brakes are strong and it’s not a gradual step between regen and hydraulic braking, it’s a leap.

likes to make a big deal their “laser welded and body” but it’s not a gimmick. welded body parts a stiffer and safer chassis crashing but also provide less body flex translates to better handling. when driving around you won’t feel the difference but on the the whole frame of the car feels rigid and planted on the road.

– Inside the Jetta, it’s Volkswagen design. A lot of black plastics on the dashboard and a well out center console. A 5” touch navigation system is the star in the middle of the dash that can provide information as to where the from the motors goes. The noise levels are incredible there are none. When on the electric motor alone, you can a conversation with someone by whispering although there is a bit of a noise in the cabin when on the gasoline engine. A big complaint I have about the interior is the space. The rear seats do down but in between the wheel there is a huge hump the batteries are stored and it not only up space but it also prevents you lying things flat on the with the seats folded.

Odds and Ends – The exterior is identical to the standard Jetta but it feature some subtle such as a different front and 17” alloy wheels. As for fuel it can achieve 4.5L/100 km (42 MPG) in the and 4.2L/100 km (48 MPG) on the highway and a price of almost $28,000 When compared with the Camry Hybrid, the Jetta is the same price but has slightly fuel efficiency on the highway.

One question I for Volkswagen is: why no Diesel Hybrid? fuel consumption in the city as as longer range and good economy on the highway. It’s the of both worlds.
