Q: How long you been into vintage

A: For almost 20 years. My parents a 1963 VW Panel Van and a 1972 VW Camper when I was a kid. My car was a 1971 SuperBeetle and my first VW was a 1962 Beetle Sedan. owned almost every VW built and discovered that I the Type 34 Karmann Ghia. owned 10 of them over the 20 years, and I wouldn’t own any other of vintage car.

Q: How long have you owned car?

A: Just a few months, April 2005.

Q: Is there unique about the history of car?

A: This T34 was originally to Italy, then exported to Africa and finally into in 1967. It’s got 186k and has never been modified by its four owners.

Q: Why did you choose car to purchase?

A: It was a clean, original, complete, T34, something that’s to find these days.

Q: was your objective with car?

A: To clean it up, replace missing parts, restore the and enjoy driving it until my T34 restoration is completed.

Q: What of style would you describe car as?

A: Vintage Original.

Q: What your car special?

A: There are about 600 T34s worldwide are capable of driving daily. one is a well-behaved original early with the stock single 1500cc engine, 6V electrical original drum brakes, and interior… and it’s never involved in an accident.

Q: What is your favorite

A: The working fog lights when with the headlights, a unique of the T34s, the only air-cooled VW to fog lights as standard equipment.

Q: was your biggest obstacle in this car?

A: Finding of the rare T34 parts to keep it authentic for 1963.

Q: How did you overcome the

A: Actively talking/emailing with T34 owners around the world parts as soon as I found

Q: What would you change if you

A: I’d love to have an electric

Q: What would you do to the car if money no object?

A: Return the color to its Ruby Red Black.

Q: What is your most moment with this

A: The drive back from AZ to Carlsbad, CA when I bought it was driving it for the first time and not how it’d perform during the adventure. It was very well-behaved and the cruise like a pro.

Q: Has car competed in any events?

A: It took 2nd at this year’s Vintage VW Festival in Carlsbad, participated in the San Vintage Rally with 60 vintage VWs Porsches, and of course in the VW Classic on the 50th Anniversary of the Ghia.

Q: What is your favorite to drive this car?

A: On Coast Highway along the San coastline enjoying the beaches, the the sun, and the girls walking on the

Q: Who gets to drive this

A: Just me a couple T34 friends.

Q: Do you take it off any sweet jumps?


Q: If your car had a motto, what it be?

A: “Life’s too short to be driven by owners.”

Q: What was your project?

A: I’m currently working on the restoration of another T34, a T34 Right-Hand-Drive Electric Sunroof from South Africa. that I restored the third known T34 in the world and created an T34 Cabriolet replica.
